Most of our Salalah customers travel as a family, often three generations in one car. A 7-seater solves the problem of two taxis, and it carries the cool box, the pushchair and the beach kit without anyone holding luggage on their lap.

Every 7-seater we rent is a 4x4 or an all-wheel-drive SUV, so the same car does the airport run on day one, the coast road to Mughsail on day two, and the climb to Jebel Samhan on day three. In khareef the extra weight and clearance help on the wet mountain roads. In winter the same car takes you to the edge of the Empty Quarter.
Be honest with yourself about luggage. With all seven seats in use, the boot of a Prado or Fortuner takes soft bags, not three large suitcases. The Land Cruiser 300 and 200 have the most room behind the third row. If you are six people with a lot of luggage, consider two budget cars instead; the widget will show you both prices.
Child seats are an add-on. Tell us ages in the request notes and we fit them before you arrive. All our cars are automatic.

The Pathfinder is the one soft-roader on the list. It is a comfortable family car for tarmac and graded gravel, not for sand or rocky wadis.

No. Visibility is the issue, not the car. Keep your speed down on the Ittin and Jebel Samhan roads, use dipped lights, and pull fully off the road if you stop to look at the view.
The Nissan Pathfinder is all-wheel drive without low range and sits lower. It is the easiest of the seven-seaters to park in town. If you only need tarmac, it is a good choice.
Yes. There is no relocation fee when you drive Muscat to Salalah yourself. The Land Cruiser 200's 138-litre tank means one fuel stop for the whole 1,000 km.
